Joanne Willmot

  • BSc (Hons), Adv. Dip. Integrative Counselling, MBACP (189042)

I am a BACP-registered counsellor with nearly ten years’ experience working in private practice, supporting individuals and couples both online and in person. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

I have worked with a wide range of clients and relationship constellations, with a particular interest in how we stay connected, communicate, and make sense of our emotional experience together.

  • I offer a space where conversations can slow down, feelings can be understood, and both partners have room to speak without interruption or judgement. The work is about understanding what is happening between you, not about assigning blame or deciding who is right.

    I help couples to:

    • become clearer about what they’re each feeling and needing

    • make sense of why small moments can feel so big

    • step out of repeating arguments or emotional loops

    • rebuild trust after hurt or distance

    • feel more able to listen and be listened to

My style is calm, grounded, and patient. We move at a pace that feels safe, not rushed.
This is a space to be honest, take your time, and explore what it’s like to be in this relationship, together.

  • I have experience supporting:

    • Neurodivergent and neurotypical couples

    • LGBTQ+ partners and relationships

    • Couples facing communication breakdowns, disconnection, or repeating conflicts

    • Individuals and couples in periods of emotional overwhelm or transition

I work with care, patience, and respect, holding space for both partners, and supporting them to move toward greater understanding and closeness, at a pace that feels safe.
